End of year letters

The end of an academic year is a very special time at Chenderit School.

On 6th and 7th July, Musical Theatre Society entertained parents, carers, wider family members, staff and fellow students with A Night at the West End 2. This was a veritable spectacle of acting, song and dance and left us all feeling truly uplifted. To witness, first hand, such dedication and talent was inspiring and I am sure I speak for most of the audience when I say that we are eager for the next performance at Christmas.

We celebrated our students' achievements, commitment to learning and extra- curricular successes at our Celebration Evening on 8th July and were delighted that Victoria Prentis MP was able to present the many awards and trophies to our students. Our award winners and their families were able to hear staff reflections about their work and efforts this year and throughout the evening we were also entertained by our Musical Theatre Society and the Y7 winners of the French singing competition. The whole evening really was a fabulous celebration of all that we hold dear and we were very proud of each and every student.

On 18th July, we had a very successful sports day. Those students who participated were very well supported by other students in their tutor groups, year groups and from the wider school community. The supportive atmosphere throughout the day was second to none and made for a pleasant occasion. There were a number of personal bests and many students benefitted from the opportunity to play sports with our Sixth Form students who were magnificent leaders throughout the day.

Thank you to all parents who have written to me this week to express their gratitude. I am always grateful to those in our community who take the time to write and tell us how much they have appreciated the opportunities we have provided for the young people in our care. I wish the whole Chenderit community a restful and enjoyable summer break and look forward to seeing students back in school on Monday 5th September 2016 (unless, of course, they need to be here for their resits on 1st or 2nd September).
