Parents & Chenderit

Partnership

Students make the best progress when a positive partnership exists between the school and their parents and carers. We shall endeavour to keep you well informed about your son's or daughter's progress through subject teacher consultation with parents, tutor/parent evenings and through written reports.

Any concerns about a student's progress can be dealt with by immediate contact as most matters can quickly be resolved in this way. The central figure for liaison is the tutor, who has the best interests of the student at heart.

You will also receive regular newsletters and an annual calendar, plus reminders and updates of various school matters.

Parents are an essential part of the team which forms the governing body. Six may be elected by fellow parents. We also have an association called the Chenderit School Association, which is open to all parents and staff of the school, and to any members of the local community who wish to support its aims. These are: 'to encourage co-operation and promote understanding between the school, parents and the local community, so that they work together for the well-being of the students'.

This association has a full programme of social, educational and fund-raising events. Through the association's energetic and generous efforts, a minibus, acoustic curtains for the hall, computers, stage blocks, PE transport, courtyard environment developments, and many other resources for the school have been bought. Over £56,000 has so far been raised by the parents.

We are always pleased to receive offers of help from parents, some of whom have, for instance, assisted in the library, with learning support and with extra-curricular activities.

Details of the Chenderit School Association can be found in the supplementary pages at the end of the full prospectus.
