Thank you for your interest in Chenderit School. We are a large, mixed secondary school with an academic Sixth Form. We are proud to be a good local community school and our students are valued as individuals and are actively encouraged to pursue excellence, not only academically, but in all other spheres of school life. Our aim is to unlock each student's potential and to celebrate every individual's progress and achievements.
This section of our website is designed for parents who are considering this academy for their children as well as parents whose children are due to start in the next academic year.
Year 7 Admissions
Our normal admission year is Year 7, when we admit students from a wide range of primary schools. Applications for the September 2024 intake (Year 7) are now open and you can apply here if you live in West Northamptonshire. Applicants living outside our local authority can still apply for a Year 7 place at the school but must do so using their own local authority's common application form.
The deadline for your Year 7 application is midnight on 31 October 2023.
If we are oversubscribed, places will be allocated according to the oversubscription criteria which can be found in our School Admissions Policy 2024 below.
Applicants wishing to apply under the Visual Arts criterion (see criterion V in our admissions policy) should submit a portfolio to the school by 13 October 2024. More information can be found below.
All applicants will be advised if it has been possible to offer a place at Chenderit School on National Offer Day (1 March or the next working day) by their home local authority.
Unsuccessful applicants can ask to be added to our waiting list which will be held until 31 December. The waiting list is ranked according to our oversubscription criteria. Each added child will require the list to be ranked again in line with the published oversubscription criteria and if a place becomes available, it will be offered to the child at the top of the waiting list.
West Northamptonshire Council manages our in-year applications (those for a year group other than Year 7 or for year 7 after that year group has already started at the school). To apply for an in-year place visit WNC’s website.
Applicants who are unsuccessful in getting an in-year place at the school can ask to be added to our waiting list. The waiting list for our current year 7 to 11 is held by WNC and is ranked according to our oversubscription criteria for the 2023-24 academic year which can be found in our School Admissions Policy 2023 (see below). Each added child will require the list to be ranked again in line with the published oversubscription criteria and if a place becomes available, it will be offered to the child at the top of the waiting list.
Appeals are managed by WNC’s Democratic Services. To find out more and submit an appeal, please visit their website.
